Golden night for Invercargill builders at Southern Registered Master Builders competition

A Southland owned and operated family building business has the golden touch after being recognised at the Southern Registered Master Builders 2019 House of the Year competition.

Archer Construction has previously picked up silver and bronze awards as part of the competition, however, on Saturday night in Dunedin, the Invercargill-based business went one better.

It claimed a gold rating in the $450,000 to $600,000 new home category for the work on a West Plains home owned by Alex and Samantha Cunningham.

On top of the gold medal rating the West Plains house was also judged as the overall category winner.

Archer Construction managing director Kerry Archer said it was a thrill to pick up such an award and was another feather in hat for the business.

Archer was delighted for foreman Travis Watt and his team who carried out the build.

He said the house was compact, however, it still managed to produce that "wow factor" which was why he believed it was awarded a gold rating and picked up the category win.
